Channel settings kept across power cycles

Asked by hupfer21 on the EEVblog forum, 9 October 2026. Thank you: here is what NovaOS does now.

done, in the next release · DHO800/900, MHO900 · the videos are the real scope's screen through an HDMI capture; the pointer and the tap rings mark the touches

What was asked

Every time the oscilloscope is powered down, the channel settings (like the probe attenuation and memory depth) are reset. I would really appreciate it if the channel settings were saved and retained between power cycles.
Probe attenuation, memory depth and the other channel settings survive a power cycle.

What NovaOS does now

The scope powers on as you left it

NovaOS powers on with the last settings: every channel's probe ratio, scale, offset, coupling and bandwidth limit, the time base, the memory depth, the trigger and the decoders come back after a reboot or a power cycle. The scope's settings memory already held them; the stock firmware ships set to power on with the default setup instead. At its first start NovaOS restores the last setup and switches that choice to "Last settings", on Utility's new Power-on row, where "Default setup" stays for anyone who wants a clean start. The video is the real scope (a DHO924S) through an HDMI capture, used by touch and its own knobs from the factory defaults: Default pressed twice, the built-in generator turned on, CH4 on and CH1 off, the trigger on CH4, CH4's probe to 10x, 5 V/div and 500 us/div on the knobs, the memory depth to 1 Mpts, Utility's Power-on, then a restart from the System sheet with the whole boot as it plays -- and every setting is back on screen 23.6 s after Restart was tapped, the shutdown included. Every step is checked against the scope's own answers as it is filmed.

Decoder thresholds too

Each decoder line keeps its own threshold across a power cycle as well (asked for by rteodor the same day). More
