A channel set to amperes reads in amperes everywhere a voltage would: its Peak-peak, Mean and RMS cards, the measurement list, the results and their statistics, the measurement histogram and trends, the cursors' Y readouts and the waveform histogram, with SI prefixes (25.0 mA, 1.50 kA). Time, frequency and duty read as before. The AI interface reports the same units.
On a channel in amperes, the channel's display sheet takes the current probe's sensitivity typed in mV/A or V/A and sets the probe ratio from it: 100 mV/A is 10x, 1 V/A is 1x, and a ratio between the presets (2.5x, say) is kept as typed.
A math channel's unit follows its sources: a current times a voltage reads in W, d/dt of a current in A/s, its integral in A·s, on the math row, the math sheet, the math window and the measurements.
A channel's unit (V, A, W, U) and its probe ratio, a typed one included, come back after a power cycle on both families and are saved in setup files.
Amperes on the cards, measurements, statistics, cursors and histograms, the sensitivity entry in mV/A or V/A, and the unit and ratio kept across power cycles, on both families.
In NovaOS r74 on our DHO924S and MHO934s.
End to end on a real current probe, a Micsig CP503B bought for this request: a known current from the bench's supply into the electronic load, read on a channel set to amperes on the DHO924S and the MHO934, beside Rigol's firmware and another modified firmware on the same model. How we test it
Set your probe's sensitivity on a channel in amperes and tell us whether the readings are what you need.
A custom probe ratio for a current probe, set from its own sensitivity, and the channel reading in mA and A everywhere instead of mV and V (Fire Doger, NovaOS's thread).
Other than voltage probes, there are current to voltage probes with different mv/ma based on probe. It would be nice to be able to configure a custom probe multiplier for that channel, and all units for that channel change from mV, V, to mA, A.
Try it and tell us what to change: reply on NovaOS's thread on the EEVblog forum.
