System > HDMI output... > Big screen draws the monitor its own picture at its own resolution, up to 1920 x 1200 (a larger monitor gets that picture scaled up to fill it). The plot is drawn at the monitor's pixels, so a trace on a 1080p monitor is 1.9 times as fine as the scaled panel picture. Beside it, in fixed tiles, sit the measurement statistics, the math (FFT, spectrogram) and the serial decoder's event table, and when the zoom is on, the whole record is shown above the zoomed plot. The scope's own screen keeps its picture, and its knobs, keys and touch work both screens. On our MHO934, with both screens drawn, each change of the picture reaches both: about 37 new pictures a second on each, at 20 acquisitions a second. Over SCPI: :NOVAos:HDMI:VIEW WORKspace.
HDMI only draws the screen on the monitor alone, its persistence and density display at the monitor's resolution too, while the scope's screen shows a note saying where the picture is. A touch on the note brings the screen back to the scope, and unplugging the monitor brings it back at once. Off unless you choose it, and kept across power cycles like the other HDMI settings. Over SCPI: :NOVAos:HDMI:ONLY ON.
What drawing a second, native picture costs, on our MHO934 with a 1080p capture card on its HDMI port: the panel and a native 1920 x 1080 picture together keep up with every change, while a 4K picture is too slow to draw natively (at most 20 frames a second), hence the 1920 x 1200 limit with scaling above it.
Big screen and HDMI only on the System sheet and over SCPI, on both families, with layout and hot-plug tests.
The image's screen with Big screen and HDMI only on our MHO934 and DHO924S, filmed through the HDMI capture card.
The monitor's picture drawn at the monitor's own resolution, if the scope's processor and graphics can carry it; More on the external screen than the 1024 x 600 screen enlarged.
Is it possible to have the HDMI output rendered at a higher resolution than the oscilloscope screen? Is there enough grunt in the hardware?
it would help me if it were possible to have something more than the 1024x600 view being upscaled on the external screen
