Z input

A third channel sets the trace's brightness, in XY and on the time plot.

Add-on video coming

No video of this feature yet. It will be filmed on our own scopes, working end to end, before it goes on sale.

What it does

Any channel or the math can be the Z source. Blank turns the beam off where Z is at or below a level, like a CRT's Z blanking; Linear runs from dark at Low to full brightness at High; Negative reverses either. With Time plot on, every other channel's trace takes the same brightness sample by sample, triggered or in roll.

XY counts every sample pair of every acquisition into the picture, the way a CRT's phosphor builds it up, so it is fast enough to use.

How to use it

  1. The Acquire sheet's Z button opens the XY sheet's Z row: pick the source and the mode.
  2. Over SCPI: :NOVAos:XY:Z:SOURce, :MODE, :POLarity, :LOW, :HIGH and :YT.

Where it stands

Built and checked on test signals. Measuring XY's rate on our MHO934 and filming a Z-modulated Lissajous is next. Demo video coming.

A paid add-on; none is for sale yet. Everyone named on its request page keeps it free. Core and add-ons.
