S/PDIF and AES3 decoder

Digital audio on S/PDIF and AES3, decoded frame by frame with its channel status.

Add-on video coming

No video of this feature yet. The pictures below are stills from our scope. It will be filmed on our own scopes, working end to end, before it goes on sale.

What it does

Reads a coaxial or optical S/PDIF line on an analog channel or a logic line, and an AES3 balanced pair as the difference of two channels. It finds the preambles and decodes each subframe (the sample, the aux bits, V, U, C and parity), groups frames into blocks of 192 and decodes each block's channel status: consumer or professional, sampling frequency, word length, copy and emphasis. Left and right samples get their own lanes, and parity, biphase and preamble errors are marked. The bit rate is measured from the line, so a capture can start anywhere in a block.

Where it stands

Built, and checked on our MHO934 with its own generator playing a 48 kHz S/PDIF line. A real coaxial source is next. Demo video coming.

A paid add-on; none is for sale yet. Everyone named on its request page keeps it free. Core and add-ons.
