Protocol watch

The scope keeps looking for buses, and tells you when a new one appears or one changes.

Add-on video coming

No video of this feature yet. It will be filmed on our own scopes, working end to end, before it goes on sale.

What it does

Identify names the buses on your channels and logic lines with their settings. Watch keeps it running on the acquisitions as they come: when a bus appears that no decoder is set up for, or a line's protocol or baud rate changes, a message says so and offers the set-up. A bus must read the same way in three captures before it is reported, so a noisy line does not flap.

With Auto set-up on as well, the watch sets the decoder up itself on a free decoder. A decoder you set up is never changed or turned off. Saved waveforms recalled as references are identified too.

How to use it

  1. Tap Identify on the history strip, then the card's Watch chip (it is off by default).
  2. Turn on Auto set-up to have it set decoders up for you.
  3. Over SCPI: :NOVAos:IDENtify:WATCh ON|OFF and :NOVAos:IDENtify:WATCh:FOUNd?
